Glen Oaks Road near Bella Vista Road: a motorcycle and a FedEx delivery truck collided, and the rider was thrown into a ditch

TEMECULA, CALIFORNIA (September 23, 2026): A motorcyclist was killed Wednesday afternoon in a Temecula motorcycle crash involving a FedEx delivery truck on Glen Oaks Road near Bella Vista Road, just east of the city, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported at 1:38 p.m. The CHP said the motorcycle and the FedEx truck collided and the rider was thrown into a roadside ditch. Riverside County Fire Department crews arrived a few minutes later and found the rider in grave condition. An air ambulance was requested while paramedics tried to save the rider, but the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, City News Service reported.

The FedEx driver apparently was not hurt. CHP dispatch logs noted that the rider was found off the roadway, and heavy-duty tow trucks were called to the scene at 2:41 p.m., Valley News reported. Officers partially closed Glen Oaks Road to conduct a preliminary investigation.

The rider's name, age and hometown have not been released pending notification of next of kin. The CHP has not said how the two vehicles came together or whether either was turning. Anyone who witnessed the crash may contact the CHP's Temecula Area office.

Liability for the Temecula Motorcycle Crash

California Civil Code § 1714 makes every driver generally responsible for injuries caused by a lack of ordinary care, and if either vehicle was turning left, Vehicle Code § 21801 requires yielding to approaching traffic close enough to be a hazard. When a delivery truck is involved, it also matters who employed the driver: FedEx Express generally uses its own employees, while many FedEx Ground routes are run by independent contractor companies.
