Pedestrian Killed by Three Vehicles in Long Beach Hit-and-Run on Pacific Avenue

Pacific Avenue north of Pacific Coast Highway: a man was struck by three vehicles and two drivers never stopped

LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA (September 13, 2026): A man walking across Pacific Avenue just north of Pacific Coast Highway was killed Sunday evening after he was struck by three separate vehicles, and two of the drivers left without stopping, according to the Long Beach Police Department. Officers were called to the area at about 7:24 p.m. and found the man lying in the roadway, KTLA reported, citing police.

According to the preliminary investigation described by police, the man was crossing Pacific Avenue outside a marked crosswalk when an oncoming white SUV hit him. He was then struck by an unknown dark-colored sedan, and a third vehicle, a 2021 Jaguar, also ran over him. The drivers of the SUV and the sedan fled. The Jaguar driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, police said.

The man was taken to a hospital, where he died from his injuries. His identity is being withheld pending notification of his family by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner. Hoodline reported that the crash was Long Beach’s 27th traffic fatality of 2026. Detectives had not released descriptions of the two drivers who remain at large, and the circumstances of the crash remain under investigation.

California Vehicle Code § 20001 (hit-and-run causing injury or death) requires every driver involved in a collision that injures or kills someone to stop, identify themselves and render reasonable assistance.
